Equipping a whole team?

It covers keys, replacement of up to 25 % of keys per year (loss, theft or staff turnover), delivery to employee addresses and priority support; shipping costs and taxes are charged per shipment. Do NIS2 duties apply to your Croatian subsidiary?
Croatia transposed NIS2 through its Cybersecurity Act (ZKS, NN 14/2024), with measures detailed in the Cybersecurity Regulation (NN 135/2024).
NIS2 Article 21(2)(j) lists multi-factor authentication “where appropriate”; the Croatian Regulation removes that doubt — Annex II, measure 5.3 makes MFA mandatory at all three levels for critical systems, explicitly VPN access and internet-facing SaaS.
Since AiTM phishing kits routinely defeat SMS and app codes, phishing-resistant hardware keys are the strongest and most auditable way for an obligated entity to satisfy it.
Microsoft 365 adds a hard deadline: passkeys became the default sign-in in Microsoft Entra ID on 1 September 2026, and Microsoft retires its own SMS and voice MFA on 1 February 2027 (Global Administrators and external users: 1 July 2027). Microsoft counts a FIDO2 security key as a device-bound passkey — Microsoft Learn.

Why do Croatian subsidiaries suddenly need phishing-resistant MFA?

Do YubiKeys work with Croatian banks?
Croatian banks generally use their own mobile tokens for e-banking, so the key is not used there directly. The YubiKey protects what attackers actually target first: email (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365), password managers, cloud consoles and social accounts - the accounts through which every other password, including bank access, gets reset.
